Sofia O - Renaissance Woman
I’ve known Sofia for about 25 years, first meeting her at her very popular store, “Pasta at Large”, in Millerton, upstate New York. A self-taught chef and baker, Sofia was born in Tierra del Fuego, on the southernmost tip of Argentina, eventually moving to Buenos Aires, the capital. When she was 15, she emigrated with her parents to the U.S.A., settling in NYC. She was partners in a successful knitwear company, “Sofia and Anne” in NYC for years. She decided to go it alone with her love of cooking and baking to open up her pasta shop. She moved to Temecula to get away from the weather in the North East and retired soon after coming to California, not before again, for a while, running a pasta shop in Hemet, CA. Today Sofia is happily doing what she has always loved to do; gardening. And then some... The images here show off her many talents. Tending to a 4-acre organic farm and orchard, having a full wood working shop where she creates her arbors and doors. She also designs and paints “Floor Cloths”, makes her own Afghans, builds the pavers in her Flower Garden, makes jams and jellies, cans her fruit, produces wine from her many varieties of berries, is a dedicated beekeeper, bakes fabulous pies and cakes from what she grows in her orchard, and produces approximately 120 varieties of tomatoes. Oh, and did I mention she made her kitchen cabinets?
The Food Photography and Life Style images here are an ongoing project….and I get to eat all the marvelous food.
